AMSKU LIVE COURSES

Upper Extremity Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Injection Course

upper-ext

Course Description

This course will give clinicians knowledge on principles of diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, including general physics, anatomy, pathology, and the current role for clinical application. This course will also give clinicians knowledge of introductory scanning techniques and US-guided injections to the most common regions in the upper extremity.

Course Objectives

  • The learner will establish minimal competency understanding of ultrasound history

  • The learner will explain basic physics of ultrasound, orientation to ultrasound through the study of controls and image optimization

  • The learner will establish minimal competency in the ability to present information on common uses, indications and limitations of MSK ultrasound

  • The learner will understand the role of MSK ultrasound in clinical practice

  • The learner will recognize normal ultrasound anatomy of the shoulder, elbow, hand/wrist

  • The learner will recognize abnormal ultrasound anatomy of the shoulder, elbow, hand/wrist

  • The learner will understand how use ultrasound guided techniques for MSK injections to the upper extremity and nerve blocks

  • The learner will understand how to correctly code and bill for diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound studies and for ultrasound procedures
